Affectionately known as “Cowtown,” Fort Worth is located roughly 36 miles west of Dallas. While sometimes overshadowed by its big sister, the city boasts a personality all its own.

The 13th largest city in the nation has been growing steadily since it became a hub for the ranching industry in the 1800s. Echoes of that past can be found in the famous Stockyards National Historic District, the National Cowgirl Museum and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The city has attracted major employers such as American Airlines, RadioShack, XTO Energy and more. Many residents prefer to live in Fort Worth and commute to Dallas, a process made easier and greener by the Trinity Railway Express. The rail system runs from Downtown Fort Worth to Downtown Dallas with several key stops along the way.

Neighborhoods in Fort Worth are pretty laid back with Texas’ famed hospitality on display everywhere. One hidden gem is Marine Creek Ranch located along North Loop 820 just minutes from downtown. The community features seven miles of trails, a private fishing dock, a community garden, a large amenity complex with a pool, and numerous parks and playgrounds.

As with many Fort Worth neighborhoods, Marine Creek Ranch is conveniently located near the Stockyards, Sundance Square and the employment centers of downtown, Lockheed Martin and the Alliance Corridor. 

The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is one of several highly regarded school districts serving young Fort Worth scholars. The district is one of the top 100 in Texas according to Niche. It boasts a strong academic curriculum and a 96 percent graduation rate. Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is a designated District of Innovation.

While Fort Worth is often considered a mecca for lovers of the Old West, there are a many cultural attractions. The Fort Worth Zoo is considered one of the nation’s best with more than 7,000 native and exotic animals. The Fort Worth Cultural District is home to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the Kimbell Art Museum as well as the Will Rogers Memorial Center and Dickies Arena.

Sundance Square is the heart of downtown encompassing 35 blocks of restaurants, shops, galleries and performance venues. Here, you can enjoy the water fountains in Sundance Square Plaza, take in a performance at Bass Performance Hall and explore the Fort Worth Water Gardens.

Fort Worth boasts a fabulous roster of mouthwatering restaurants, as well. Favorites include Ellerbe Fine Foods, Taste Community Restaurant, Heim Barbecue and Lonesome Dove Bistro.
