Our Guide to Oakpoint

"

Bordered by Lake Lewisville, Oak Point boasts an enviable lifestyle less than an hour from Dallas.

Residents of the North Texas town can easily commute to employers in Plano, including Toyota Motor North America, JP Morgan Chase, Liberty Mutual, and Capital One. Combined with its small-town ambiance and beautiful sunsets, it’s not surprising that the population has increased by 162 percent.

One of the top master-planned communities in the area is Wildridge. The 2020 Dallas Builders Association’s Master-Planned Community of the Year is located just south of Highway 380, offering convenient access to Interstate 35 and the Dallas North Tollway.

Rolling hills and mature trees provide a beautiful backdrop for homes in the community. Residents enjoy walkable lake access, winding trails, parks, and resort-style amenities. The newly unveiled Hideaway features a 3.5-acre fishing pond, a covered pavilion, and a cozy seating area. Residents can rent canoes and explore the lake.

Oak Point is zoned to two school districts, Denton ISD and Little Elm ISD. Both are award-winning and rank among the top districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Denton ISD includes four high schools, eight middle schools, 24 elementary schools, two early childhood centers, an alternative high school, an advanced technology complex, and other specialized schools and centers. Niche ranked it among the top 25 best school districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Denton ISD offers orchestra at all levels and is one of only 10 percent of all districts nationwide to do so.

Little Elm ISD is one of the top 20 most diverse districts in Texas, according to Niche. High school students chosen for the Lobo ColLEgiate Academy can earn up to 50 hours of dual credit coursework through North Central Texas College starting in their freshman year. All students in all grades have access to Chromebook computers.

Equidistant between Denton and Frisco, Oak Point boasts opportunities to attend Dallas Cowboys practices at The Star in Frisco, raise a glass at breweries and pubs in Denton’s craft beer district or enjoy live music at Dan’s Silverleaf. Shopping for bargains at Allen Premium Outlets or designer duds at The Shops of Legacy and Legacy West will keep all fashionistas happy.

Closer to home, Lake Lewisville is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with opportunities to fish, ski, swim, boat, hike, and camp. Fortunata Winery serves up a taste of Tuscany.

George Cornwell Orchard is a favorite with families who enjoy picking their own peaches and blackberries. Little Elm Park is perfect for picnics, barbecues, and pick-up softball games.

The best food around can be found at Prairie House Restaurant, Leo’s Brunch House, and Hula Hut.
