Coventry Homes Keeps Energy Costs Low

Coventry Homes Keeps Energy Costs Low

The Texas heat doesn’t just take a toll on your body. It can also hurt your wallet. Older homes are just not very energy efficient, resulting in bills that make you sweat. There is a solution. Coventry builds “Eco Smart” homes that are more efficient than homes built even five years ago. Here’s how we do it:

First, we take a multifaceted approach to building an energy-efficient and comfortable new home. That means reviewing a number of categories such as resource efficiency, overall energy savings and indoor air quality. It also means taking a close look at HVAC systems, windows, insulation, ventilation and more. We even think about how smart home technology can help your home become more energy efficient. To make sure we do it right, we have third-party inspectors who assess every aspect of your new home.

Among the many features you will find in our homes are:

• Effective insulation
• High-performance windows and doors
• Tight construction and ducts
• Efficient heating and cooling equipment
• Efficient products and appliances

What does that mean for you?

It means your HVAC system is right-sized for your home. Each home we build has its own AC/heating blueprint based on the number and size of windows, size of the home, and other energy efficiency components such as insulation, ventilation and equipment efficiency ratings. We use that information to make sure your system is working efficiently for your home.

We use radiant barrier decking that reflects 97 percent of the sun’s radiant heat, lowering the temperature in the attic which improves the energy efficiency of your home.

We use double-pane low-e-vinyl windows that not only lower utility costs but also lower noise pollution.

The temperature and humidity levels of your home are controlled by a smart thermostat that gives you the ability to adjust temperatures to your needs and schedule. Energy efficient appliances use energy more efficiently to keep your costs low.

That’s just a sample. The end result is that our homes have one of the lowest “Home Energy Rating System" (HERS) scores available.
